Have you ever been asked that question on a truth or dare
game or a game of truth when you are just chilling with your friends, what’s
your favorite memory?
I have never thought of that till I was once asked that
question on one night when my friends and I were hanging out at my place.
We
were playing the truth game, for those who don’t know that game it’s as simple
as its name; everybody asks a question and you have to answer it with complete
honesty. My friend popped that question at me and for some reason, that day was
the only thing I could think of, the day that I went to say my goodbyes to my
best friend before he leave Lebanon.
I’ve always had friends in Tyre, and we only know Tyre in
summer. You know, beach!!!!!
My best friend wiam lived right next to the beach, so every
summer we used to spend most of it with him at the beach; we knew the best
spots, the best places to be with a group of pretty crazy people who would make
a scene, that’s why we always chose places away from the crowd. This summer is
different though. Wiam travelled and it’s no longer the same but before he did,
he invited me to have African food at his place.
His mom makes the most amazing
African food in history. As usual, I went early morning to help them out with
the cooking, we loved cooking with his mom it was always fun, so we made
chupigen, it’s an African dish made with rice fish and veggies.
We set the
table and had our lunch. With constant laughter and amazing company, we went,
wiam and I for a ride to say goodbye to his favorite places. We first started
up with Kheyam, the last tent was our destined place. We got in to say goodbye
to the owner and made our way to al Jamal where we spent most of our days.
The
weather was still a bit cold and not up for a swim but we couldn’t stop
ourselves from dipping our feet in and playing with the water. It was around
5:00 in the afternoon when we decided to go to our most favorite spot. El
Fanar. It is a small Hotel located at the beach area with a small wooden deck
and bar right on the surface of water.
We always liked it there, good music,
awesome atmosphere and amazing people. We ordered drinks and sat on the deck as
the waves were crashing, they were putting jazz tunes and there were only us
and another group of friends.
It was so amazing, so fresh we didn’t want to
leave. That place isn’t just a place to chill, they have amazing food
collection especially their sea food, and the shrimps were my very favorite.
The atmosphere is very nice as well, good taste of music most of the time, the
people who go there are also very sweet so you are never bothered by annoying
customers especially on a small area like that, it is amazing how it is
perfectly controlled.
Al Fanar is one of the very best spots to visit in Tyre, not
just because I shared great memories with my friends there, but also because it
is a place that hosts friends and let them share those memories in. It is a
place to chill, have fun and let loose and most importantly it is a great place
to meet great people.
